I have had a really really really boring weekend. And its been 3 days long which is just rubbish. Yes, I do have a screw loose in my head. Ever since I have a job doing something brilliant which I love I now seem to hate weekends. God forbid they have to let me go - I will be distraught. Anyway, we'll deal with that if/when it happens. I might get knocked down by a bus before then.. although I'm not planning to be. I've just had a call from the production manager on one of the productions and I am off to sunny Croydon to help the stage manager and director tomorrow - how exciting!! I have to be there at 8am though and it's going to be a long day but what a brilliant experience!! I am really looking forward to it - everyone on the production is really really nice and a few of us are planning on going to the Roller Disco this Thursday as a bonding exercise! As long as I can get back into town in time to see Tim Key's brilliant one man play "Luke & Stella". I am taking everyone to see it and it'll be typical if they go along and I have to miss it. I am taking everyone to see Alex and Tim's "Everybody Talks" on Wednesday too but I really love "Luke & Stella", as you should know if you read this regularly.
Anyway, all I have done this weekend is get my hair cut which was fun cos I like having my hair cut but no-one tends to notice the difference when your hair is really long. Unless you blog about it so people know to compliment you the next time they see you. I've had layers cut into the back and it's more "choppy" around the front and a bit shorter too. God my life is one big party. Not.
I spent most of Friday making badges at work, much to the delight of everyone I work with. I made one with an image from the comedy drama they have just completed and there is already talk of me making them en masse for the entire cast and crew when we have the screening. I also made an Estate Agents one which I will wear with pride, a Making Fish Laugh badge (my favourite Edinburgh show ever) and a Fist of Fun badge (which I have craved for a number of years). It is all very exciting but John made me leave my badge machine at work over the weekend so I took it upon myself to buy some fabric paints and sequins and ruin one of my t-shirts instead. I think I am pleased with the results but its a tough call cos my mum likes it too - which is a bad sign. You'd understand if you knew, or saw, my mother.
Yesterday I spent the day eating one type of food - pizza - and I have continued in the same vein today - eating only mini-kievs. I've been working hard on the Boosh site in time for the excitement on 10 May and am doing very well I think. My computer has only crashed a few times (touch wood) so hopefully I can write a lot more during the week and get it online - so long as I'm not "on location" too much. How exciting!! I'm currently writing about the Mighty Boosh and remembering it all is making me smile - "It's smoothie time... it's smoothie time..!"
Helena called me from Australia for 20 minutes today and it was so nice to hear her voice. I miss her loads. She's not back until 23rd July and then is going to Scotland with a friend - the long and short of it is that I won't see her until I get to Edinburgh, which makes me even more excited about the whole thing. Sounds like she is having a fantastic time and we swapped stories about our hilarious escapades. I seem to be reverting back to my university days, as does Helena. I didn't think I'd be able to go out every night and drink every night like we used to, but evidently I can. Between last Thursday (roller disco) and the Tuesday just gone, I managed to spend a grand total of 50% of the nights in my own house - that's pretty impressive by anyone's standards. And this week I intend to spend only one night away - after the repeat performance of the Roller disco - Poppy lives close by so I am hoping I can stay there - although I've not asked her yet. Its just so easy working til 6.30pm and going straight out. Too easy perhaps. Makes a change not finishing at 5pm and having to hang around for everyone to finish, but then by the time bars shut it feels like the night has gone quickly and i don't feel ready to go home. Which is why I have made the decision to move out of home as soon after the festival as possible. That will make life a whole lot easier for everyone. Especially me.
Went to 60 acts in 60 mins with Johnny on Tuesday and I think I managed to see him for a total of about 3 minutes. He disappeared almost as soon as we got in there which was fine cos I knew way more than half of the acts on. I didn't quite make it through to Madame JoJos, just stayed in the bar with the remaining 59 acts as each took their turn on the stage. It quickly turned into a gay bar around us without us actually noticing until a very gay man called Jason started to grope Dan in a way which I wouldn't really have appreciated had it been me who was being molested. In fact, I'm not a violent person but my natural reaction - call it a reflex - would have been to elbow him in the face and tell him to fuck off. Jason this is, not Dan.
On Monday of course - if you go to themightyboosh.blogspot.com you will see that I was lucky enough to get a sneaky peak of the Might Boosh tv show. And it was bloody fantastic. I felt a certain amount of pressure being that I had chosen to sit next to the director but as it happened I had to try to tone down the laughter a bit through fear of looking like the slightly deranged Boosh fan which everyone knows I am. I wish I could see the whole series. Except they've only got as far as the third show. It's everything I hoped for and more. Afterwards everyone went for a meal while me, Mike, Pete and James hung around drinking free wine and talking about music and comparing everyone to Radiohead. We went along to the restaurant for a while when we were done - mainly to carry on drinking but I cleverly managed to get the last train home. Well done me. A feat I haven't managed in a long while.
Thursday was the final of the Paramount Comedy Shorts (again see Boosh blog) which was a really good night. I'll write about it on comedy lounge when I get to work cos I left all the notes I'd scribbled on the back of envelopes there. I have nothing else to say just now.
