"Touch me... how can it be.... belive me... the sun always shines on TV..."
I AM GOING TO SEE A-HA!!! GET IN!!! I am quite late in reporting this news as I booked the tickets on Tuesday. Had I read the email that seetickets.com kindly sent me on the monday I would have been able to get even closer to Morten than I am now but I stupidly put it in the trash and it was only thanks to Nalini that I found out in time. I cannot tell you how excited I am. Christian played "Take On Me" as the Bobby Dazzler this morning and it made me wish that I had my own mac and could link up my ipod to it and put my greatest hits of a-ha onto it. I am going to have a word with my boss and see if I buy an imac if I can get a load of software from work... that would rock. I think I might do it soon actually.

I had a packet of crisps yesterday. And two pieces of carrot cake. But they were quite small pieces . And they are made of carrot. Which is a vegetable. And I didn't walk to work. Or back from work. I ran out at lunchtime to get some food and on my way back the heavens opened and I was completely drenched. I had to sit for the next hour in damp jeans with lovely wavy hair. Even my fringe went wavy. I ended up having to put my hair up for the first time in ages cos it looked so spectacularly shit. Luckily Boots are still selling my beautiful hair straighteners for half price so I bought some to be delivered to work for future incidents and so I can further damage my hair when I go out after work.
I am beginning to wonder whether keeping a public blog is a good idea anymore. I have no idea who reads it, I write it for myself but kind of with the knowledge that other people do read it. Someone emailed me yesterday to say someone had emailed them a link to my blog and then commented about something I wrote. So someone who is a stranger to me emailed someone I know about something I wrote. How did they know to email this person and why? I am wondering if there's any way to keep a private blog other than saving word documents. I can go back to the comedy lounge blog for public comments maybe. I don't know. I wonder if I can password protect it so only people I don't mind reading it can read it.
So more or less everything has been sorted for our jaunt to Brussels and Amsterdam. I am really looking forward to it. I found a comedy club in Brussels and emailed to see if there is a show on when we're over. There is but its in Antwerp rather than Brussels and its Mark Watson, Boothby Graffoe and Andy Parsons. The MC is an ex-Perrier judge and is urging me to go along but I'm not sure whether it's really a good idea. I'd love to go and see a Belgian comedy club but it'd be a bit of a busman's holiday (and what a great gameshow that was). There are a couple of clubs in Amsterdam too along with Boom Chicago who I have never seen, despite them being at the Edinburgh Festival every year that I've been. I'm not really all that big on improv. I have found a hostel in Brussels which is really close to the Grand Place in the centre and is only EUR 27.50 a night which includes breakfast, is a twin room and has a private bathroom. The hostel in Amsterdam is central too and is EUR 42.50 a night which is about the same I think. They're hardly what I'd call hostels so both Kathryn and I are very pleased indeed. So the Eurostar to Brussels is £59, Thalys to Amsterdam is £51, Brussels hostel is about £37 and Amsterdam hostel is about £57 so that's a grand total of £204 so far. So it's just spending money now. We're not going to be eating out much, we'll probably do what me and Sharon did in France and grab baguettes and cheese and ham or something and at least we can use the kitchen facilities in the hostels too and they are both central so we can go back for lunch etc. It should be fun - it's a shame it's only for a few days but it's better than nothing.
One of the two flats I was going to look at this weekend is sharing with two blokes who both have girlfriends but want a girl to move in for balance... I thought I may as well look at it so I have something to compare other flats to so I replied to the man and asked what they do and how old they are. Turns out they are both over 40!!! Fuck that! I'm not living with two men old enough to be my dad. Sounds horrible. The other flat is with just one bloke so that might be bearable and it is so close to Suz and Nalini it would be ace. Maybe I should think about living in Clapham too though cos there are so many transport links... I dunno, we'll see. Going to make heavy inroads next week while my bosses are away and aren't here to throw loads of work in my direction.

On Monday night Kathryn came to my office and we managed to book the Eurostar and Thalys parts of our holiday so now all we need to do is find somewhere to stay while we're in Brussels and Amsterdam. I bought the mini rough guide to Brussels and the Time Out guide to Amsterdam too so I have been trying to plough through those over the past few days. I think I have more or less sorted out places for us to stay. As most of the hostels in both cities have private twin rooms we've decided that's our best option then we can meet lots of people and stay somewhere with a bit of an atmosphere. And they are quite cheap - the one in Brussels is ridiculously cheap. The Amsterdam one is really cool and hopefully we'll get a canal side room so we have a nice view. God I am quite excited! Shame its only for four nights.
Since I've been ill I've put on a few pounds, not many to worry about but my jeans are a little bit tighter than usual so I have decided to walk to and from work from Charing Cross. It's really only a 15 minute walk and I did nearly bottle it this morning due to the weather but I soldiered on. It is the first time I have ever walked to work before and last night I walked back with Sal cos she'd popped into the office. So I am doing quite well. Tonight I am going to Drill Hall to see Adam Bloom's radio recording so I shall walk back to Charing Cross from there - it will no doubt start to rain as soon as I set off. Sally is talking about starting to run from work to London Bridge in the evenings but I think I will see how I do with walking to Charing Cross before I start running anywhere. And besides, hopefully soon I won't be having to go to Charing Cross at all to get home. I am going to look at a flat just round the corner from Nalini and Suzanne some point soon I hope. It's just about within my price range but it would be living with a bloke - so long as I don't fancy him then I should be ok. You never know, he might have some nice friends.
Speaking of which I have a slight crush on one of my friends which is beginning to drive me slightly crazy. I am feeling a bit like Duckie out of my favourite film, Pretty In Pink... which incidentally, was on VH1 again last night. I think the best course of action is to sit back and just be friends, get over it and watch him go out with other people - it'd all just end in disaster like all other relationships I've ever had. I did kind of fancy someone I went out with recently-ish but that's only really when I see him, it's not like he's stuck in my thoughts - and that's the best way for that to stay too. i doubt he feels the same way, generally they don't.
So here are my early-April resolutions.
Walk to and from work - try to walk everywhere.
Don't eat bread, pasta or potatoes (except the small amount of potato salad in my salad for lunch)
Look at flats and hopefully move out
Keep up record of kissing one boy every month (this has only stood since December)
See more diverse range of comedy - not just the same acts all the time
Think those will do for now. I hope to be able to at least walk to work every day. I would join a gym but I think we all know what happened last time I tried to do that. What a waste of hard-earned cash that was. I cannot believe it's April already... that means there are only four months until the festival. In my head I am planning to go for 12-15 August, 21-29 August. Kerry might be starring in a play so if she is she said I can sleep on her floor but I think she may live to regret saying so. I am going to see as many previews as possible which I am looking forward to. It'll be nice just to be a visitor popping up rather than getting tired and bored and hating comedy for four weeks. The last two years were fairly unenjoyable - though obviously we had a brilliant time for the most part.
I have so much to do at work but that's just as well cos my bosses are on holiday for a few weeks from Friday so it'll keep me busy - hopefully I can clear loads of my backlog while they're not here to pile more on so I am quite looking forward to that. I am slightly preoccupied at the moment with thoughts of Brussels and Amsterdam. I am really looking forward to it. I've been trying to work out when me and Kez (and anyone else who fancies it) can fly out to her parents' villa in Alicante and I think we're going to have to sort it out before I get booked up again. Sam's hen weekend keeps changing but the more I think about it the more I can't see me being able to afford it. I think I can write about it here cos I doubt she reads this garb. We're going to Edinburgh of all places for the weekend and so far they reckon the flights are going to be £100 and so is the hotel... shame I don't know anyone who lives there cos that would save me a bomb. I could always just go for one night and drive up via Newcastle so I can see my uncle... not sure really... I think I might give it a miss - I do like Sam's friends and cousins but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable spending a weekend with them cos they all know each other and I'd be a bit of an outsider... which I spose is really more of a reason to go. We'll see. It's at the beginning of June at the moment.
