How is this happening?
This is completely insane. I am sitting in my Uncle's spare room in Newcastle, on his computer, putting some finishing touches to the collection of blogs that is the new sparkling edition of comedy lounge. Sharon and I are very proud of ourselves and very pleased to be back. Despite the fact that I was zooming around like a nutter at work on Friday trying to tie up loose ends it doesn't feel like I'n not going to be in the office again for 5 weeks. And despite the fact that I spent the whole of Saturday throwing things in bags in an attempt to pack and as a result of driving for five straight hours yesterday and am in Newcastle - it totally doesn't feel like I am going to be at the festival in a matter of hours. It is completely mad. I think I am struggling to come to terms with it cos I am fully aware of quite how much fun it is going to be. I'll be doing comedy lounge as well as stuff for work and the party and press invites are already piling up... and there are promises of massages too (not from Shazzle, don't go getting any ideas of the kind of things we'll be getting up to in our flat - cos we won't be). Its all just too much for my tiny little brain to comprehend. When I came to the turning of the A1 to go to my uncle's I was sorely tempted to keep on driving to Edinburgh. But I wouldn't have had anywhere to stay for two nights so would have been a bit of an anti-climax.
The majority of people are there already - including my lovely friend Kez, Helena as well as "he who shall not be named". And I'm not talking about Voldemort. Or am I? This posting will just be me droning on about not believing that it is really time for the festival so if you are bored already I suggest you go and read Richard Herring's blog cos at least you know it will be both interesting and funny. So I shall continue... I have a fair bit of stuff with me but that does include my mac from work, its stand, a video camera, my DVD player, a suitcase of clothes and a whole host of other unnecessary items. So why not come burgle us? There will be a plethora of electrical goods at our disposal. Really looking forward to keeping the video diary. This will NOT be making its way onto the internet at any point in the future cos I daresay it'll be kept at 4am every morning when we're a little worse for wear. We are going to keep a DV tape to record our faces for a few seconds every day so we can see the gradual decline of our health and looks.
There's just too much to look forward to, and that's before you think of any of the shows that are on. On Thursday we are spoilt for choice for press launches and we have two parties to go to that night, including the List party, which has moved back to the Corn Exchange which is a cracking venue, if a little out of the way. But we'll be there will bells on. And our best tops. And maybe even a skirt thrown in for good measure. The Fringe lauch party is on the sunday night. We did attempt to go to that last year but it is on the same day as the perrier lunch which meant I was completely plastered by about 6pm and could only make it home to get changed into my pary gear before falling sound asleep and waking up at 1am when the action was over. Not this year. We've been snubbed by the perrier lunch so we'll be focusing all our attention on trying to find outfits to tie in with their animals theme. I intend to go as a dog... yeah, yeah, no change there...
So I might pop downstairs and see if Beryl is watching Eastenders and if not pop back up again. If I can be arsed!
If you see us in Edinburgh, please come and say hello. But only if you're going to be nice to us! Sx
